Dee Why residents will soon have a new venue to cultivate both fresh produce and community ties, following Northern Beaches Council’s approval of a new community garden at Arthur Reserve. The project, endorsed at a recent Council meeting, comes as a result of a locally led initiative that received significant support during the public consultation phase. The new garden will occupy a 300-square-metre section of community land situated near the Cromer-Dee Why Scout Hall. Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins praised the initiative as a prime example of grassroots leadership. "The community garden project is a great example of residents leading positive change in their neighbourhood," Mayor Heins said. "Community gardens provide opportunities for people of all ages to connect, learn from one another and share the social and health benefits that come from growing food together." The garden's design will focus on inclusivity, featuring raised garden beds while ensuring that pedestrian access through Arthur Reserve remains unobstructed.
