A 47-year-old local man was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition after he was found badly injured in a Dee Why reserve late on Friday night, prompting a police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage. Emergency services were called to James Meehan Reserve, near the corner of Clyde Road and Richmond Avenue, shortly after 11pm on 29 May 2026 after reports that a man had been found unconscious and bleeding.

NSW Police and NSW Ambulance responded to the Triple Zero call and found the man on the ground with significant facial injuries. Paramedics treated him for multiple head injuries as well as chest injuries before taking him to Royal North Shore Hospital just after midnight. Police said there was a concern he may have suffered a traumatic brain injury and he was taken for further scans and treatment. People walking in the area are understood to have found the man lying in the reserve. He was reportedly covered in blood from a head wound, with bruising to his face and his eyes swollen shut.
