Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club has set out how members can raise concerns about behaviour at the club, including who to contact and how to make a formal complaint if needed. On its member protection page, the club says it aims to provide a safe environment where members are treated with “respect and dignity” and are protected from “discrimination, harassment and abuse”, and that it follows the Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) Policy Member Protection Code of Conduct. The club says a group of volunteers is responsible for member protection practices and issues, including a Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO), a Complaints Manager and a Child Safe Coordinator. According to the club, the MPIO can provide information to members who have an issue or grievance and may be a first point of contact for anyone wanting to raise a concern. The club says that after speaking with the MPIO, members who want to proceed with a formal complaint can lodge it through Surf Life Saving’s online complaints portal at https://complaints.sls.com.au/.
