Mayor Sue Heins described the draft budget as the Council's largest-ever commitment to renewing and improving local infrastructure. "This is the biggest infrastructure investment our community has ever seen, and it is focused on the assets people use every day, from roads and footpaths to beaches, parks and community facilities," she said. The comprehensive $588 million draft budget for 2026/27 is supported by $21.5 million in critical Special Variation funding, designed to maintain safe and fit-for-purpose community assets. Among the most significant allocations in the proposed capital works program is $36.8 million dedicated to road assets, including $12.8 million specifically for road resurfacing and repairs.
