A fresh chapter is set to begin at one of the Northern Beaches' most beloved waterways, with Northern Beaches Council lodging a development application for a purpose-built community facility at Jamieson Park on the shores of Narrabeen Lake. The proposal, submitted in early May 2026, follows the destruction of the park's previous amenities block in a fire, and marks the culmination of an extensive community engagement process that drew strong public support. More than 80 per cent of respondents to the consultation backed the proposed design, reflecting the community's enthusiasm for a modern, inclusive replacement. The planned facility has been designed with the full range of lake users in mind. Sailing, model boat and dragon boat clubs — which have long called Jamieson Park home — will benefit from significantly expanded storage areas tailored to their needs. A café open to both club members and the general public will bring new life to the foreshore, while accessible showers, toilets and watercraft facilities will improve the experience for all visitors.
