The 2025/26 beach patrol season on the Northern Beaches has officially drawn to a close, and by any measure it was a significant one. Across 24 patrolled beaches, lifeguards and volunteer surf lifesavers performed more than 200 rescues and carried out over 3,000 preventive actions — interventions that ranged from directing swimmers away from rips to responding to medical emergencies on the sand.
## A Season to Remember The 2025/26 beach patrol season on the Northern Beaches has officially drawn to a close, and by any measure it was a significant one. Across 24 patrolled beaches, lifeguards and volunteer surf lifesavers performed more than 200 rescues and carried out over 3,000 preventive actions — interventions that ranged from directing swimmers away from rips to responding to medical emergencies on the sand. Northern Beaches Council, which coordinates the paid lifeguard service that operates alongside Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches volunteers, has confirmed the season ran from late September 2025 through to the end of April 2026.
