A 32-year-old man has been rescued from the Warriewood blowhole after getting into difficulty in the ocean on Sunday afternoon, in the first major rescue operation of the surf lifesaving season. A Triple Zero call was received just after 2.30pm on October 4, reporting a man in distress at the blowhole. He was at the swimming location with another man when he reportedly swallowed seawater and was helped onto the rock shelf by his friend. He suffered cuts to his legs after being washed against the rocks. NSW Police and NSW Ambulance responded to the cliffs above the blowhole at Narrabeen Park Parade. Surf Life Saving NSW patrols from Warriewood and North Narrabeen sent inflatable rescue boats and a jet-ski around the headland, allowing lifesavers to approach the pair from the water. Lifesavers swam to the rock shelf, assessed the injured man and planned a water evacuation. Although shaken, he was considered well enough to re-enter the water with help from his friend and the rescue team.
