Northern Beaches Council has opened nominations for its 2027 Australia Day Awards, giving residents until 27 October 2026 to recognise people and organisations making a significant contribution to the local community.

Northern Beaches Council has opened nominations for its 2027 Australia Day Awards, giving residents until 27 October 2026 to recognise people and organisations making a significant contribution to the local community. Nominations can highlight sustained community service or a single selfless act. Council is seeking examples of kindness, generosity and community spirit, including occasions when someone has placed the needs or safety of others before their own. Residents are encouraged to consider people they encounter through everyday community life. A nominee could be a neighbour, friend, colleague, volunteer or sporting club member whose work has had a meaningful impact on others. Organisations can also be nominated. This gives residents an opportunity to recognise the collective contribution of a local group, rather than limiting nominations to individual volunteers or community members. The nomination period runs for almost two more months, but residents will need to submit their choice by the 27 October deadline.
