A 23-year-old mountain bike rider was taken to hospital after he misjudged a jump and crashed into a tree on the Mount Narra trails at Ingleside on Sunday evening, 16 August. The incident prompted a multi-agency response to reach, assess and remove him from the bushland shortly after sunset.

A 23-year-old mountain bike rider was taken to hospital after he misjudged a jump and crashed into a tree on the Mount Narra trails at Ingleside on Sunday evening, 16 August. The incident prompted a multi-agency response to reach, assess and remove him from the bushland shortly after sunset. Emergency services were called just before 5.45pm to an area known as "the compound" on Caleyi Trail. The man had been riding with his father and had reached the bottom of the trail when the crash occurred. He was able to stand and walk away from the site but soon reported pain in his ribs and right shoulder. Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Mona Vale and Narrabeen were first to arrive. Firefighters carried lighting and an all-terrain stretcher about 200 metres into the trail from the Wakehurst Parkway, where they found the rider with his mother and father. They provided first aid while waiting for paramedics. A NSW Ambulance crew from Avalon and NSW Ambulance Inspector Melissa McGovern reached the area with a four-wheel-drive ambulance shortly after 6.15pm.
