Brookvale Public School will introduce full-time Academic Extension Classes in 2027, giving primary students who need greater academic challenge another local option within the public school system. Applications are open to current Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 students from all school sectors and areas.
Brookvale Public School will introduce full-time Academic Extension Classes in 2027, giving primary students who need greater academic challenge another local option within the public school system. Applications are open to current Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 students from all school sectors and areas. The classes are intended for students entering Years 3, 4 and 5 who learn new concepts quickly or need more depth, complexity and pace than a mainstream classroom typically provides. Students may show advanced achievement or potential in one or more areas and do not need to be working at the same level across every subject to be considered. The school will draw on the experience it has developed through its Opportunity Class and its work in high potential and gifted education. Principal Luke Richmond said capable students still required teaching and learning environments designed for their needs.
