Northern Beaches residents are being asked to help shape an updated council strategy covering community safety, inclusion, diversity and social connection. The revised Better Together 2040 strategy will guide Northern Beaches Council's work in these areas, making the consultation relevant to people's access to community life, services and opportunities across the area.

Northern Beaches residents are being asked to help shape an updated council strategy covering community safety, inclusion, diversity and social connection. The revised Better Together 2040 strategy will guide Northern Beaches Council's work in these areas, making the consultation relevant to people's access to community life, services and opportunities across the area. First adopted in August 2021, Better Together 2040 is Council's long-term roadmap for supporting a socially sustainable and inclusive Northern Beaches. Council is reviewing the strategy after five years of implementation so it can respond to emerging social challenges and continue to reflect residents' needs, experiences and priorities. The revised draft retains the original directions of safety, inclusion and connection while adding diversity as a fourth direction. Council defines safety as the ability of people to achieve wellbeing in their social and physical environments, while inclusion means feeling a sense of belonging and having equal access to opportunities.
