Police seek teenage e-bike rider after pedestrian struck outside Manly Wharf

Police are seeking public assistance after a teenage e-bike rider allegedly struck a 26-year-old pedestrian outside Manly Wharf and fled, leaving the bike behind. The collision happened on East Esplanade shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday, 19 July. NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were called to the scene, where Manly Wharf security officers were providing first aid to the woman. She was found lying on the ground after being knocked down. Paramedics assessed the woman for minor abrasions. Although shaken, she did not appear to have injuries requiring hospital treatment and was released to continue her evening with friends. The group appeared to be heading to a World Cup event and was carrying cut-outs of Argentine footballer Lionel Messi. Police spoke with the woman and her friends at the scene as part of their initial inquiries. The rider was reportedly a teenage male who left the area after the collision. Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command seized the abandoned bike, which appeared to be an electric dirt bike, possibly a Chinese-made Valtinsu M2.
