Police are looking for a man who intervened when a group of teenage boys allegedly stole alcohol from a bottle shop at North Narrabeen, in an incident that has again highlighted ongoing theft problems at the store. Officers say the man helped recover some of the stolen liquor before the youths fled, and detectives now want to identify him so they can thank him in person.

NSW Police said officers were called to the Liquorland store on Gondola Road just before midday on Tuesday, 7 July, after reports that a group of five teenage boys were involved in the alleged theft. Staff told police four of the youths went into the store and took alcohol worth more than $500, while another stayed outside on watch. According to police, a passing adult man saw what was happening and stepped in while the alleged theft was underway. He detained one of the boys by the arm, but the youth struggled and, with help from another boy, managed to break free and run from the scene. Police established a crime scene and began an investigation soon after arriving. During inquiries, officers found that the youth involved in the struggle had left behind identifying items, giving investigators an early lead....
