A 70-year-old man was rescued from bushland at Ingleside after falling from his mountain bike on Saturday afternoon and being left injured on a remote trail as daylight faded. The rescue drew in ambulance crews, Rural Fire Service volunteers and Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters, and ended with the rider being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

Just before 4pm on 4 July, the man called Triple Zero to report he had fallen from his mountain bike near the Slippery Dip Fire Trail at Ingleside. He had been riding alone on the popular trail known as Ya Mum, near Deep Creek Reserve at North Narrabeen, when he crashed near the ridgeline, went over the handlebars and landed on his head. Despite the fall, the rider was able to stay on the phone and tell rescuers he had significant pain in his back and could not continue without help. He also used the Emergency Plus app to provide his precise location, giving emergency services a clearer fix on where he was in bushland that does not have a street address.
