Police arrested a wanted man at gunpoint in Narrabeen on Saturday evening after he allegedly threatened to stab a father with a syringe in front of his wife and two children. The incident unfolded in a busy part of Ocean Street near The Sands Hotel, alarming a family out for dinner and prompting a rapid police response. According to police, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command were called to Ocean Street just before 5.45pm on Saturday 4 July after reports that a man was threatening someone with a syringe. When police arrived, they spoke with a man in his 40s who had been taking his family to dinner at The Sands Hotel. Police were told the family had parked in the beach car park across the street before being approached by a stranger described as a man in his 30s with bleached blond hair. The man allegedly asked the father for a cigarette and, when refused, threatened to stab him with a syringe in front of his family. The family is understood to have fled inside the hotel for safety.
