Police were called to an industrial unit on Tepko Road shortly after 6.30am on Wednesday, 10 June. Officers were initially told that two men wearing black balaclavas entered the business at about 6am, threatened staff and left with items taken from the premises. It has since emerged the alleged robbery is believed to have been carried out at gunpoint. The investigation is now looking at whether the business was an unintended part of a supply-chain smuggling method known as "piggybacking". Under that method, contraband is allegedly inserted into a legitimate import shipment without the knowledge of the business involved, either at the point of origin or at the destination port.
