Police are investigating after a teenage motorbike rider allegedly crashed into the back of a car at Cromer and left the scene without exchanging details with the driver. The incident happened at about 10.30am on Monday at the intersection of Fisher Road North and Carawa Road, with the rider later found at a nearby home and taken to hospital.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command were called after reports that the rider had walked away from the crash. At the scene, police spoke with the driver of the car, a 67-year-old man, who was not injured. The man told police he had stopped his grey 2000 Lexus IS200 sedan to turn into a driveway when a red 2014 Hyosung GT650R struck the rear of the vehicle. Police said the motorcycle suffered significant front-end damage. According to police, the young rider complained of a sore wrist after the crash and asked bystanders for a lift home. When asked for his details, he allegedly walked off, leaving the damaged motorcycle behind. Police soon linked the motorcycle to a residence in Wabash Avenue, Cromer, where NSW Ambulance had been called to assess a 17-year-old male with an injured hand.
