An 11-year-old boy was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital after a car mounted the kerb and crashed into the front of a takeaway shop at Allambie Heights on Sunday afternoon, striking children who were seated outside. The incident shut down part of the area around the shop while emergency crews treated the injured child, secured the vehicle and checked the building for damage.

Emergency services were called to Wicked Chicken on Allambie Road just after 3pm on Sunday, 28 June, after multiple Triple Zero calls reported a car had gone into the shopfront. Police, firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene, where a white 2022 BMW 330i station wagon had driven through tables and chairs on the footpath before crashing into the food counter inside the shop. Police said the driver, a man in his 40s, appears to have hit the accelerator instead of the brake. The car is understood to have lunged forward from a parking bay and onto the footpath, where three children were seated and eating at one of the outdoor tables.
