Police and NSW Ambulance were called to Irrubel Road just after 4.15pm on Thursday, 25 June, following reports of a collision between a car and an e-bike. Emergency crews arrived to find a 16-year-old boy with suspected lower leg fractures after he and another teenage boy had been thrown to the ground. According to information gathered at the scene, the two teenage males on the e-bike had been travelling along the street before becoming involved in an altercation with the driver of a white 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Accounts given to police indicated there had been some form of cat-and-mouse interaction between the boys and the driver before both vehicles stopped. Witness accounts indicated a verbal exchange then took place after the e-bike and Jeep came to a halt. Police were told one of the boys allegedly damaged the passenger-side mirror of the Jeep.
